Join our family of 6 as we travel from Kentucky to Boulder, Colorado! 🌎 This leg of our cross-country road trip takes us through the heart of the Midwest. We cover: 📍 Leaving Kentucky 📍 Driving through Missouri 📍 Overnight in Kansas City 📍 Crossing the Kansas plains 📍 Arriving in the Rocky Mountains If you are planning a family road trip or want to see what it's like traveling with 4 kids in a van, this video is for you! 🏔️ 5 Tips for Visiting Boulder with Kids: 🗓️ 1. Go early for parking — especially at Chautauqua Park. It fills up fast on weekends.Free Weekend Parking: If you are visiting on a Saturday or Sunday, park in the city-owned garages downtown—they are usually FREE on weekends! 🌞 2. Pack layers — mountain weather changes quickly. Mornings can be chilly even in summer. 💧 3. Stay hydrated — Boulder sits over 5,000 feet above sea level, and altitude can sneak up on you. 🚴 4. Explore by bike or foot — the city has amazing trails and bike paths connecting parks and downtown. 🍦 5. Pearl Street is a Must: It’s a pedestrian-only outdoor mall. For kids, there are rocks to climb on and street performers (buskers) that are great free entertainment. Educational & Free: If it rains or you need a break from the sun, check out the NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research). It has hands-on science exhibits for kids and is totally free.
