This is the second part of the video with a short presentation of a military ration. This time I'll be using a flameless ration heater to prepare chicken casserole and showing you closely some of the snacks and beverages that were included in the package. For those of you who are wondering how does the flameless ration heater work: In case you haven't noticed, around 02:00 there is a short explanation on what is happening inside the green plastic bag. How does it work? The package contains magnesium, iron and table salt, which altogether react chemically with added water. This process is called redox (reduction-oxidation reaction) and is the same what causes iron to rust. The main difference is that here, the whole process occurs much faster thanks to iron particles and table salt that are supposed to accelerate the reaction. This chemical reaction generates heat very rapidly, allowing soldiers to prepare a hot meal without having to make fire. It takes around 10-12 min to heat this meal by 38º C (100º F). One of the most interesting and also confusing things was definitely the Carbonex. I thought that it will dissolve very easily in water, but to my surprise it didn't. It looks like an effervescent tablet doesn't it? After shooting this video I googled it and it turned out that these are energy tablets that are supposed to be sucked slowly :D. It is a pity there is no information about that neither in English nor in Polish. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part one with unboxing: • ASMR Unboxing a military ration Part 1 Audio: https://asmrsurgeaudio.bandcamp.com/r...
