This was the reality for the Israelites, who faced Goliath—a giant whose very existence was a reminder of ancient stories of fallen angels and divine rebellion. Goliath was not just a Philistine warrior. He was a Nephilim, a descendant of the ancient giants, born from a race whose origins were shrouded in mystery, rebellion, and violence. But who were the Nephilim? To understand Goliath and his brothers, we must go back to the very beginning—before the flood, before David, and even before humanity's descent into chaos. The Nephilim were mentioned briefly in the Bible, in Genesis 6:4, where it states, “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.” These “sons of God” were believed to be fallen angels, who, in their rebellion against God, took human women as their wives.
