TH Plantations & Cenergi SEA Commission 1.2MW Biogas Power Plant

On 15 January 2026, TH Plantations Berhad (THP) and Cenergi SEA Berhad marked a significant sustainability milestone with the commissioning of the Cenergi Lawiang 1.2MW Biogas Power Plant at Bukit Lawiang Palm Oil Mill, Kluang, Johor. The facility converts palm oil mill effluent (POME) into renewable electricity through methane capture — transforming waste into clean energy capable of powering approximately 1,500 households annually. This initiative demonstrates how innovation in the plantation sector can drive both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility. The launch ceremony was officiated by Tn Hj Mustakim Mohamad, Group Managing Director & CEO of Lembaga Tabung Haji, together with Chairman and Board Members of THP , Board Members of Cenergi SEA and Senior Leadership team of both organisations. Representatives from Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA Malaysia) led by the CEO, Dato' Hamzah Hussin, were also present. Through the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme managed by Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia, the Cenergi Lawiang Biogas Power Plant channels renewable electricity into the national grid, advancing Malaysia’s energy transition objectives.
