How The Federal Government Plans To Crack Down On Vapes

The federal government is cracking down on vapes in what's set to be some of the biggest changes to smoking laws in the last decade. VAPE LAWS Today, the government announced it's cracking down on the sale, importation, and marketing of vapes to try to stop young people from getting addicted to them. You see, vaping has skyrocketed across the country, particularly among young people. Recent stats show that one in six teens aged 14 to 17 has used a vape, and four-fifths say they can buy them easily from places like convenience stores. A lot of these vapes are not regulated, and a lot have been found to contain an addictive chemical called nicotine, even if it's not listed on the label. So what are the new rules? Well, vapes will still only be legal for those who have a prescription, which means they'll now be sold in pharmacies only, in "pharmaceutical-like" packaging, meaning certain flavors and colors will be banned. The government is also banning new vapes from entering the country, banning all single-use vapes entirely, and is creating support programs to help people quit for good.
