Welcome to I’ll Knit (& Spin!) If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions! Sign up for my newsletter here: Sign up for the DRK Newsletter: http://eepurl.com/diPxsr In this week’s episode we cover: 1. I’m a beginner knitter, and I’ve made a few of your patterns already. I absolutely love the designs, the process, and, most importantly, how clear your instructions are! I’m about to start your DK Everyday sweater as my first sweater, and I’m so excited! I’m just waiting for my yarn to arrive, so in the meantime, I’m reading through the pattern, highlighting, and making notes. Could you clarify what "swatch in the round" means? I understand I should use the same needles I plan to use for the main fabric, but if I’m knitting in the round, does that mean I should use the magic loop method and divide my stitches onto two needles for the swatch? Cheater method for switching in the round: • How To: Speed Swatch for Knitting in ... 2. Hi! I love your podcasts, I have learned so much from them already. I have a question about german short rows. I am starting a top down raglan pattern where the collar is worked first, then they cut the yarn for the german short rows, work the german short rows, cut the yarn again, and continue to work in the round. Now I've made your traveler sweater, which I absolutely love, and I remember that the german short rows were just started and finished by knitting back and forth part of the way, without cutting the yarn along the way. Could I get away with trying to adopt the pattern to your technique, or will that get me into trouble in a top down raglan construction, and should I just accept cutting the yarn? It does create a bit of holes, so I'd prefer to not cut the yarn if I don't have to... 3. I’m curious as to how you keep track and store your spinning journal on your iPad. Is there an app or program for spinning. I started a notebook but am awful using it. I’d rather spin than keep track of anything. Goodnotes - https://www.goodnotes.com 4. I'm really digging the tessellated pullover and thinking about attempting it—I’ve even got my eye on yarn colors!..(is it too much for a beginner??? I hope the answer is no🙏🏼). I'm not a busty lady and I'm worried that the structure of it is going to make me look like I'm wearing a pyramid. Do you know of anyone with a smaller bust that has made and worn it successfully? Or do you have any thoughts/tips/etc. that may be beneficial?? Oh! And I think in the 203 video you talked about the ribbing of certain sweaters losing their "bounce back" and I remember thinking that the yarn used for the tessellated pullover was going to be made with that type of yarn; increasing my concern for an odd fit on my beam-pole frame😬 One more thing, I’m hoping to make your little bean and olive sweater for the March-May KAL and I was wondering how your daughter’s sweater is faring?? Thanks!! 5. I made the Weekender Sweater and finished the body today. When I tried it on, the arm holes are a bit too snug but the rest of the sweater fits great. Is there a way I can do minor sweater surgery on the armholes to make them larger before I add the sleeves? I really, really don't want to frog back make the front and back sides longer. Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thank you! Today I am wearing Illuminate: Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr... My Website: https://www.dreareneeknits.com/shop/z...
