The Ancient Olympics

The ancient Greek Olympics, originating in 776 B.C. in Olympia, were a series of athletic competitions held every four years to honor the god Zeus. These events included a great number of sports like running, wrestling, boxing, pankration and chariot racing. The games were not only a religious and sporting event but also a crucial cultural festival, uniting Greek city-states and fostering a sense of shared Hellenic identity. This video is a rework of one I uploaded four years ago on the same topic. With the Paris Olympic Games approaching, I felt it was a good time to revisit the ancient Greek Olympics. The original video had several issues: it was too fast-paced, contained some inaccuracies, and had somewhat poor imagery. I’ve edited the script, recorded a new narration and enhanced the visuals.
