Another video to treasure from her trip to Spain. Legs & Co come to mind. In 1965 Everyone's Gone To The Moon reached #4 in the UK for Jonathan King. So DANA's much improved version may have gone to the moon, given the chance. It's one of a dozen tracks found on her first album, hastily made to capitalise on the success of her #1 single, All Kinds of Everything, which it was named after. That ballad had once again beaten Knock Knock Who's There to the winning post, just like in Eurovision. Accompanied by an orchestra DANA took just one weekend (25-26 April 1970) to complete the vocals on all 12 album tracks, including a re-recording of her smash hit. It's a mystery as to why the original recording wasn't used. By June the LP was on sale and full of potential singles, such as Everyone's Gone To The Moon, Drums, A Sigh Around The Corner, Th' Li'l Old Clockmaker, Now These Words, Can That Girl Be Me, Under The Bridge, Written On The Wind, My Heart Will Go On Loving You, When You're Really In Love and Wake Up And Live. Using her surname "Brown" she co-wrote four of them. Can That Girl Be Me (Johnston/Brown) was perhaps the album's most obvious single-in-waiting. It's still waiting fifty years later because her eventual follow-up came from a demo song, I Will Follow You, performed by Olivia Newton-John, who was unknown at the time. Streets full of people, all alone Roads full of houses, never home Church full of singing, out of tune Everyone's gone to the moon Eyes full of sorrow, never wet Hands full of money, all in debt Sun coming out in the middle of June Everyone's gone to the moon Long time ago Life had begun Everyone went to the sun Parks full of motors, painted green Mouths full of chocolate-covered cream Arms that can only lift a spoon Everyone's gone to the moon Everyone's gone to the moon Words and music by Jonathan King
