A Barnsley Civic Trust talk recorded on 18/09/25 Ken Brookes, volunteer and guide at the museum looks back on 25 years of Darfield Museum, how the museum started life as a corner shop run by Maurice Dobson and Fred Halliday and how volunteers and the National Lottery Heritage Fund transformed the shop into a museum which opened in 2000 The museum is open Wednedays 1-4pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm Barnsley Civic Trust helps local people have a voice and influence local developments. They work to make Barnsley and its surroundings more attractive and distinctive, promoting civic pride. An independent, non political, voluntary organisation.
