Business leaders avoid unstructured conversation because it seems messy, or un-businesslike, and therefore risky. But the real risk comes from never getting to the bottom of why people are stalling, blocking, or disengaged. It’s trading a superficial level of comfort in the moment for a slow-moving train wreck down the road. Getting business moving is getting people moving – and people only move when they believe something personally. Patty believes that there is a direct link between positive results and allowing others to be their authentic selves and truly help change their workplace for the better. And that approach is what makes her unique in the corporate world. Patty Azzarello is the founder of Azzarello Group, a company that helps businesses (and people) get better at what they do. She is the author of two books: RISE, which helps people advance their careers in an authentic and non-political way, and MOVE, which helps organizations decisively implement their strategies. She has a BS in electrical engineering from Monmouth University. She was the youngest general manager at HP at the age of 33. She ran a $1B software business at the age of 35 and became a CEO for the first time at the age of 38. Patty is known for her straightforward and practical manner, and through her work strives to bring authenticity and humanity back into the business world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
