Scuba diving Otter Point BC is one of the most underrated adventures on Vancouver Island. This Sooke dive site offers shallow-water exploration, incredible kelp forests, and the chance to encounter rare marine life in British Columbia — including the elusive rock greenling fish, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most mysterious species. If you’re looking for cold water scuba diving in Canada filled with biodiversity and hidden beauty, this dive site is worth adding to your list. Most divers skip Otter Point — it’s quiet, simple, and often overlooked. But that’s exactly what makes it special. Beneath the surface lies a thriving ecosystem of bull kelp, cabbage kelp, sea lettuce, and schooling juvenile fish. From swarms of rockfish and herring to delicate stalked jellyfish clinging to kelp, every inch of the seafloor is alive. And then, out of the shadows, came a flash of color — a hidden rock greenling with bold streaks of red, black, and blue that vanished as quickly as it appeared. In this episode of Be Sea Adventures, we explore Otter Point’s shallow reefs to uncover the secret life thriving just meters from shore. Whether you’re a local diver, underwater photographer, or someone curious about Vancouver Island scuba diving and marine biodiversity, this dive proves that adventure doesn’t always mean depth — sometimes, it’s patience and paying attention to the small things.
