You won't believe it but the lions are actually afraid of the biting flies at the ground which makes them climb trees. We are in Tanzania, more precisely in the Serengeti National Park; the midday heat is overwhelming and a few lionesses relax up in a tree. Strange... lions don’t usually live in trees.. do they? That's exactly what makes this photo a PicBuster, because lions are known as bad climbers and therefore rarely found in trees. Their stocky physique makes it difficult for them to stay on the shaky branches.. So what would drive the lions to mount this wobbly nemesis? The enemy lurks in the grass, listen carefully, they are tik-tik-flies; the powerful kings of the jungle flee from insects which are only about one centimetre big. The mini beasts live close to the ground and feed on blood, even that of the big cat and in the rainy season they multiply enormously. The Tsetse flies are not only annoying but can also transmit parasitic unicellular organisms. On humans, for example, they cause sleeping sickness, which, if left untreated, usually ends in death. The big cats, on the other hand, are immune, but the sting of the Tsetse fly is extremely painful even for a lion. And that explains why the lions on the lower branches are still observing the ground with such trepidation. These lions became climbers due to fear of a ‘mere’ fly, this is our PicBuster! ================================== If you like this video, share, like, comment & don't forget to subscribe for more content!
