Today’s Message: God Is With Us Main Text: Matthew 1:18–25 Messenger: Joel Smith Every great story has an origin—and the story of Jesus does too. But the origin of Christ doesn’t begin in a palace or with perfection. It begins in promise, unfolds through generations, and arrives right in the middle of human mess. In today’s message, Pastor Ryan Rice walks us through Matthew 1:18–25 to reveal the powerful truth behind the birth of Jesus: God doesn’t run from our mess—He enters into it. From Genesis onward, Scripture points to a promised “seed” who would crush the serpent and restore what sin had broken. Matthew opens his Gospel by showing us that Jesus is that promised Messiah—the righteous ruler, the anointed Savior, the long-awaited King. But when the moment finally comes, God chooses an unexpected path. Jesus enters the world through a complicated situation—a betrothed couple facing confusion, shame, and uncertainty. Joseph, described as a righteous and merciful man, prepares to quietly step away, until God interrupts with grace. The angel’s message makes everything clear: What is conceived is from the Holy Spirit. The child will be named Jesus—because He will save His people from their sins. And He will be called Emmanuel—God with us. This message reminds us that Christianity is not about working our way to God. It is about God coming down to us. Jesus didn’t come to be co-opted by agendas or crowned by human power—He came to save sinners, restore broken lives, and prove once and for all that God is with us.
