In this video, Damo Mitchell introduces Qigong and Jing, as well as discussing the common problems that people face in Qigong practice. He begins with a brief introduction to Qigong and its purpose and various applications in life. Damo then talks us through the three treasures of Daoism: Qi, Jing and Shen. Damo also addresses the various misconceptions of Qigong practice. He provides a guide to the basics of Qigong and stresses the importance of understanding core principles of Chinese martial arts, as well as the proper practice of Qigong. Another topic that Damo expands on is the over-complication of Qigong concepts with “modern” Western interpretations. He urges us not to over-complicate things as this will make it harder for people to grasp the key concepts of Chinese martial arts. In the final section of this video, Damo elaborates on Jing. He discusses the key principles around Jing, its relation to the kidneys, ming men and the lower dan tien. Also included in this video is a detailed explanation of the neijingtu chart, which provides information for regulation of the kidneys and Jing. This is a very useful and informational video on Qigong practice and its key principles. Damo is the author of several Singing Dragon books, including Daoist Nei Gong, Heavenly Streams, and the forthcoming The Yellow Monkey Emperor’s Classic of Chinese Medicine. Damo Mitchell has studied the martial, medical and spiritual arts of Asia since the age of four. His studies have taken him across the planet in search of authentic masters. He is the technical director of the Lotus Nei Gong School of Daoist Arts, and teaches Nei Gong in the UK, Sweden and the USA.
