How to make watercolour bookmarks - little slices of landscape

Be warned, making watercolour bookmarks can be quite addictive! Why? Well, they are quick to do, so perfect if you are short of time. They are perfect for experimenting with new techniques or trying out new colours in a more imaginative way than simply swatching. They make great presents/gifts. If something works on a bookmark it can be scaled up into a painting. You can use them as a gentle introduction to mixed media. It's a super way of practicing your line and wash mark making. I used Ohuhu acrylic markers and fineliners, but use whatever supplies you have to hand. A little watercolour and a ballpoint pen will work! I like to wax them using Dorland's wax, but you could use any clear wax medium or even wax designed to go over chalk paint. You can also use an acrylic varnish.
