Most Traditional Turkish Food: What to Eat in Istanbul

As is the case when visiting any new country, trying the most traditional foods in Turkey is a big part of the cultural experience. While staying a month in Istanbul, I was able to sample many of the most unique dishes that are a part of the cuisine. There was everything from the familiar, such as Kebaps and Baklava. There were also the foods about which outsiders know very little, such as Kokorec and Gozleme. A big part of my discovery came during a food tour on the Asian side of the city, with Melis. Having retired in 2023, I now travel full-time, seeing places all around the world. My idea for YouTube is to make the videos more about the places and people along the way, than about me. I hope that the experience for you is both entertaining and educational. Perhaps you will come away from my channel with ideas about places you would like to visit or be inspired to forge your own way. I travel slowly, spending four or five weeks in each destination. Hopefully, that will allow me to go beyond the surface to find the essence of each location. By the end of 2024, I will have visited 14 countries and five of the seven continents.
