TRANSCRIPT: Bendheim Wall Systems’ glass rainscreens can be a powerful, transformation design element for new and old buildings alike. They are the first of their kind, designed for maximum visual impact and exceptional east of use. This is a case study on a striking commercial retrofit, 3001 Orchard Parkway in San Jose, California. It demonstrates how Bendheim glass rainscreens can completely transform a building on budget and without disrupting occupants. MODULUS Architects had to raise the profile of this non-descript, circa 1980s building, completely modernizing it with little or no disruption to the occupants, on time and on budget. After assessing the project and weighing he options, MODULUS decided to preserve as much of the existing structure as possible. They enveloped the exterior with Bendheim Wall Systems’ decorative glass rainscreens. The selected system features our Längle Wall-F compression glass fittings, and approximately 5,000 square feet of laminated safety glass. The rainscreen creates a dynamic, modern look, changing its appearance as daylight travels across the façade. The Bendheim system received stellar reviews from the architect and the glazing contractor. It was a huge success. As of this recording, the project is a finalist in the Silicon Valley Structures Awards for best reuse and rehabilitation.
