Eliminate dust with this easy DIY Downdraft Table

A downdraft table is the most efficient tool for capturing sanding dust at the source. Stand-alone downdraft tables can be very expensive; however, our WoodRiver® Dust Connection™ 2-Piece Downdraft Panel Set makes it easy to build your own solution. Each steel panel has an array of large holes for rubber grommets that grip your workpiece. Additional smaller holes help pull the sanding dust down and away from the user when used with a shop vacuum or dust collector. Those smaller holes also provide a place to install stops that keep your workpiece from sliding off the downdraft surface. Set includes a blank panel to block off one side when sanding smaller pieces. Multiple sets can be combined to create a larger downdraft surface. At 0:56 when I say "inch or so" I meant 1 & 1/4". In my build I needed to allow 3/4" for the panels plus a 1/2" for the rabbeted bottom. I couldn't do math and voiceover at the same time. In this video we build a very simple open top box with 2 added ledges for the panel to sit on. The panels measure 16-1/2'' x 6-3/4'' x 3/4''.
