Theme of the Webinar Why Study Law? How to Select the Best Students into the Law School? Taking LSAT-India to Pursue a Global Law School Experience! Introduction Lawyers have shaped the foundations of democracy, rule of law and access to justice in India, USA and indeed around the world. Being a lawyer gives one the privilege to promote the common good and bringing justice to life. However, law is only as beautifully complex as human life. Therefore, studying law is very important to break down these complexities with critical thinking, but also to evolve into responsible, compassionate and ethical world leaders. Even in the current pandemic crisis, beyond the human cost, the injustice created is one of the largest collateral damages. With some countries declaring legal systems and access to justice as essential services, lawyers have become all the more important. Given this increase in the relevance of Law and Lawyers, it is all the more critical for Law Schools to ensure academic continuity, and also evolve their selection processes to attract students with stronger legal aptitude. Entrance exams are the very start of a Law School journey, and LSAC has played a pivotal role in ensuring that the we enable our students to begin their legal journeys. LSAT-India has become India's first and only Law Entrance Exam to be entirely online, AI-enabled remote-proctored. It has not only identified means to ensure transparency, accessibility, efficiency, integrity, and safety in the process, but also brought back to the surface a very important question on the centralization of Law School exams. Being a lawyer entails broad perspectives, local and global. And LSAT India provides us an opportunity to globalize the Law School experience. From admissions to entrance examinations - students across the globe face uncertainty regarding the future of their academic pursuits in Law. The colloquium on ‘Taking LSAT-India to Pursue a Global Law School Experience’ therefore sought discuss the importance of studying law, the need for evolution in the selection processes of law schools, and the role of LSAT-India to redefine the future of Law schools in India.
