All rights go to their respective owners. Batman 1989 was directed by Tim Burton and starred Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger, Alfred Gough, Billy Dee Williams, and Jack Palance. It’s the 2nd theatrically released Batman film following Adam West’s (RIP) film from the 60s. This film is arguably one of the most iconic and influential comic book films of all time. There’s good reason for it too. The Batman we know today was without a doubt influenced by this movie. Upon rewatch tho I’ve come to realize this film may not hold up as well as many have claimed, at least in my opinion. I of course have my own standards for movies and what makes them good and I’m sure you do as well. By the standards I apply to movies this film does not hold up so well, those standards being writing/plot, directing, characterization, acting, filmmaking, and the way the story is told. The film doesn’t fail in every single one of these categories but it fails in enough of them to bother my cynical ass. That’s why I’ve made this video. Remember it is just my opinion so don’t take anything I say personally obviously. I understand the film is special to a lot of ppl and I’m not denying that it has had a major effect on the genre as a whole.
