The current episode focuses on Sufism, Sufi saints, and their importance not only in the Kashmir Valley but also in various parts of the country. There are many places across India where these Sufi saints have preached peace and brotherhood. Among these sacred sites is the Dargah Janasheen-e-Ghous-o-Khwaja Qutub-e-Alam Hazrat Shah Niaz Ahmed (RA) in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. A spiritual event recently took place at Khanqah-e-Niazia, celebrating the annual Jashn-e-Chiragan. Thousands of lamps were lit in a tradition that has been ongoing for over 250 years. Devotees from various religious backgrounds, both Hindus and Muslims, eagerly participated in this sacred gathering. Men and women stood in line to light their lamps, which symbolize their wishes. This event was initiated by Sajjadansheen Mehndi Miyan, and the lighting of lamps continued throughout the night. The celebration takes place on the 17th of the Arabic month of Rajab, in honor of Ghaus Pak. Devotees, after having their wishes fulfilled, return to light additional lamps at the Khanqah. This unique gathering exemplifies communal harmony, as people from different faiths come together in reverence. Lamps representing their wishes were lit in Bareilly, and Khanqah-e-Niazia was bathed in the light of harmony. People from all walks of life come here every year with full devotion to light the lamps. The most remarkable aspect of this tradition is that it brings together both Hindu and Muslim communities in a shared act of devotion.
