Part 1: 15A to 67A Ideal Diode (Blocking) Modification Needed for Low Voltage Charging Applications

Part 1: Low voltage ideal blocking diode design was modified for high current LiFePO4 3.65V cell and 14.6V battery charging protection applications. The working voltage range of the ideal diode is 3 to 28V. An off-the-shelf ideal diode was used for the modification. The voltage drop across the diode for charging a cell at 25A was 38mV and charging a battery at 67A was only 70mV. This is remarkable as compared to ~400mV for a Schottky diode.
