BMW R1200GSA | 1250GSA SPLINE LUBE & FINAL DRIVE OIL CHANGE |PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

In this video, I will provide step-by-step instructions on changing the final drive gear oil and lubricating the splines between the drive shaft and the final drive on my 2015 BMW R1200GS Adventure. This video also shows how to reconnect the final drive to the drive shaft, which is a little tricky, but with patience, this is definitely possible to do on your own. --------------------------- Tools: Socket wrench Torque wrench Screwdriver (this can be used to assist with aligning the drive shaft knuckles to the output and final drive shaft) Side cutters (used for removing cable/zip tie from front boot) Lift or bottle jack to support final drive (optional - you can use your arms, legs, or ask someone to assist) A Measuring Jug or any container for draining the final drive oil. Oil bottle for filling the final drive oil Small Grease or applicator brush TORX bits: T30, T40, T45 and T50 --------------------------- Parts and supplies: 180ML gear oil (SAE 75W90) (BMW PN 07512296486) I used CASTROL 75W-90 GI-5 Syntrax Long Life Gear Oil O-RING FINAL DRIVE DRAIN PLUG 2005- 2020 (BMW PN 33117695219): My O-ring was replaced not long ago and was still in good condition, so I reused mine. GASKET RING FINAL DRIVE FILL, COPPER (BMW PN 07119963132) Mine was replaced recently, so I reused mine. Paralever Fillister-head screw (BMW PN 33 35 8533524). I read that changing this bolt is recommended each time, but I have reused mine. Spline grease, moly-based. Castrol Molub Alloy TA, or equivalent. I used Thixo Syn Grease 3820-3 because I have it on hand. Blue Loctite - for brake caliper and spray/mudguard bolts Red Loctite 243 for M10 bolt connecting the final drive to the paralever --------------------------- All torque settings in this video are taken from the 2016 Clymer manual, and additional resources are available online.
