That is: 📍 Single-Strand Breaks (SSBs) Repair 📍 Double-Strand Breaks (DSBs) Repair 👉 Single-Strand Breaks (SSBs) Repair Single-strand breaks occur when one of the two DNA strands bears a defect. Here, the other intact strand is used as a template, to guide the repair of the damaged strand. Now, Single-Strand Breaks (SSBs) Repair comprises three different mechanisms: 📍 Base Excision Repair (BER) 📍 Nucleotide Excision Repair (NER) 📍 Mismatch Repair (MMR) 👉 Base Excision Repair (BER) Base Excision Repair (BER) repairs single-base lesions. The removed segment is then resynthesized, using the intact complementary strand as a template. 👉 Mismatch Repair (MMR) Mismatch Repair (MMR) is responsible for correcting errors, that occur during DNA replication. The basic mechanism involves recognizing the mismatched base pair, excising the incorrect nucleotide, and resynthesizing it using the correct nucleotide as a template. 👉 Double-Strand Breaks (DSBs) Repair Double-strand breaks refer to damage that occurs in both strands of the DNA double helix.
