In this episode we are going to discover the latest jewel to come out of the Groppo Aviazione production line, the consolidated G70 powered by the Rotax 915. The G70 is a two-seater, high-wing aircraft with a tricycle landing gear. It was designed with the comfort of the pilot and passenger first, large and spacious, with comfortable and adjustable seats, excellent for long journeys thanks to its autonomy and cruising speed. The space behind the seats allows you to load bulky luggage, so you can enjoy weekends away without giving up. The G70 follows and completes the Groppo "design philosophy", born more than 15 years ago with the "Dui", followed by the more performing Trail and the two-seater Folder. All Groppo aircraft have in common the ultra-classic metal construction, synonymous with solidity, ease of verification and maintenance; ideal, among other things, for the production of the kit, highly sought after abroad, one of the strong points of all the aircraft born in Mezzana Bigli. The Rotax 915 allows the airplane to climb in an incredible way.....and in this video we tried it in the worst possible conditions....Two people on board, more than 30 degrees of temperature and very high humidity, and yet at full power the variometer marked 1600 / 1700 feet per minute! And this is precisely where the difference lies compared to the 100 horsepower......climb easily to reach altitude (ideal place for the 915) and enjoy a cruise of many many kilometers in full comfort and with the possibility of loading luggage at the maximum of the category so as to plan long trips, taking advantage of grass or asphalt runways even of small dimensions, thanks to the excellent take-off and landing capabilities. As with all airplanes that maintain the initial configurations, the maximum speed does not increase much (20 - 30 Km/h more sacrificing 5 liters per hour more) but thanks to the possibility of "high" cruise the greater TAS will greatly affect the transfer.
