1996 F350 460 DISTRIBUTOR REPLACEMENT

In this video we replaced the distributor on our 1996 F350 460 (7.5L) big block. Tools needed = 3/8” drive with nuckle extension 1/2” socket timing gun Symptoms that led to replacement- The truck would run fine, then randomly shut off and not start, after awhile it would start, idle fine, than shut off again. We used a code reader to scan for codes and got codes : 211 Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) Circuit Fault 212 loss of ignition diagnostic monitor signal/SPOUT circuit grounded The PIP is located in the distributor and can be a challenge to replace, the existing distributor was old so we replaced the whole thing. This solved the problem and the truck is FIXED! Notes: I wasn’t able to adjust the timing properly due to a faulty timing gun, I have it properly timed now and there is a video that will be up soon on how to do that.
