Prerana Acharyya, clinical research coordinator in Stanford’s Bronte-Stewart Lab, presents three related studies exploring how to monitor Parkinson’s disease symptoms more effectively. The main focus is on the QDG (Quantitative Digitography) system, a validated device and app used to track motor fluctuations through a simple finger-tapping task. Two of the studies use the QDG system in home or remote settings. A third study, SPRING, explores adaptive deep brain stimulation (DBS) and its effects on gait and mobility. Stanford's APDA Information & Referral Center and Stanford Parkinson's Community Outreach coordinate a local Parkinson's Disease (PD) support group in Palo Alto. Since March 2021, we meet virtually, highlighting local resources, Stanford healthcare professionals, and Stanford research.
