Flying with Matty No. 2 : DJI Mavic 3 Pro Active Tracking in Snow

Welcome back to the ‪@SEAI-LLC‬ channel for another edition of Flying with Matty. We recently had a large amount of snowfall in my area in southeastern North Carolina, and I thought it would a great opportunity to test the active tracking function in my DJI Mavic 3 Pro. I've opted not to do a voiceover for this video, because I am certain none of you want to hear me ramble about this stuff...I know I wouldn't. Coming into this, I knew this mission would likely not have the results that I wanted due to the massive lighting issues associated with snow, the dark clothing I am wearing while running the drone off my fourwheeler, and the drone's ability to detect me on the fourwheeler. To sum it up, it was hit or miss while tracking the quad, but the DJI Mavic 3 Pro was able to easily track me during walking exercises. So, I flew the mission in Manual Mode, used a ND32 filter to help with some of the lighting, adjusted the ISO, EV, etc. accordingly, but obviously there was still some excessive lighting issues that played havoc on the active tracking sensors while operating on the fourhweeler. But that's OK, because this is training and that's why we're out here learning what works and what doesn't. It would be interesting to see if the M3T and/or the M30T would do a better job in this situation when tracking a thermal target. If we have another snow, I will spin up those drones and find out.
