Stress and Aging

Biologist Cecilie Goodrich Baker will introduce us to the sciences of stress and aging, as well as the changing historical causes of death. Then we will turn to specific information about the effects of stress during aging. The discussion will focus mainly on humans, although some relevant information will come from laboratory animals where human evidence cannot be obtained. While there is a lot of "bad news", "good news" will also be presented. After completing a B.S. degree in Zoology at the University of Michigan, Dr. Goodrich Baker finished her academic training with a PhD in Physiology at Harvard University. Her teaching has spanned freshman non-major courses and a wide variety of courses for biology majors and graduate students as a Professor of Biology at Cleveland State University, and at Drexel University.
