The Entheogenic Garden Please subscribe, like and comment on our videos to show support for our charity - This is a free way to say thank you to EGA 😊🍄🌵- www.entheogenesis.org Synopsis Gardening makes us gardeners. When we cultivate our gardens, we cultivate ourselves. But what's it like to share Country with psychedelic plants; to listen to and work with entheogenic plants that can "generate the divine within"? What can we make of these encounters, often mysterious, sometimes terrifying, potentially transformative? What relationships can develop? What protocols might we consider when we help plants migrate with us into Country where we ourselves do not yet properly belong? In this wide-ranging conversation, a variety of plant heads share stories and explore questions from the heart of our community -- the entheogenic garden. BIOS KATHLEEN HARRISON, M.A., is an ethnobotanist who has worked in the field since the 1960s. She is informed by long relationships with indigenous healers, California subcultures, an array of expert naturalists, and her own decades of psychedelic curiosity. She co-founded the organization Botanical Dimensions with Terence McKenna in 1985, and continues as its perennial Program Director, initiating ongoing projects in Mexico, Peru, California and Hawaii. Kat has taught globally for both universities and many conferences. She is currently based and teaching at the Botanical Dimensions Ethnobotany Library, in Northern California. She specializes in the study of nature-based worldviews, patterns of belief, ritual, healing, art and the plants that live where they evolved. Communacacian Communacacian has been growing and exploring the utilisation of Acacia trees for over five years. Cultivating these trees is a way to help anchor and deepen our experiences and understanding of the link between ourselves and the nature we see. Growing Acacia trees is a powerful way to give back to the earth and ensures that vulnerable and important species are accessible to future generations. Torsten Wiedemann Torsten is the owner of Shaman Australis Botanicals which specialises in the supply of shamanic and other ethnobotanical plants. He encourages individuals to learn about the plants that provide us with food and medicine so that the knowledge about them is kept alive and utilised. Torsten brings a scientific approach to herbs and plants that highlights their biology, chemistry and pharmacology, but in a way that is applicable to anyone and in everyday situations. Tanya Tanya is a nature enthusiast, writer and educator who works as a bird ecologist for a non-profit land restoration organisation in central Victoria. Snu Voogelbreinder Snu researches and writes about psychoactive agents from the natural world, with one foot in science and the other in mystico-spirituality. He is best known as the author of Garden of Eden (2009), a review and examination of current knowledge in the field. Dr Des Tramacchi Des Tramacchi is a scholar of religious studies specialising in entheogens. He has a long-standing interest in trance and altered states of consciousness, shamanism and other wisdom traditions. For his doctoral thesis, Des conducted interviews and fieldwork with Australian psychonauts to obtain qualitative information about their DMT experiences. He is a student of ethnobotany and has trained in both biology and anthropology. Des has published and taught university courses on entheogens, religion and anthropology, new religious movements, and religion/state interactions. Neil Pike Neil Pike is the founder and Grand Authenticated Bush Turkey of the Pagan Love Cult inc, probably the longest running contemporary psychedelic music group in Australia. Their musical style moves from old-school folk-rock through hippy pop to a more modern electronica. When the other members of the PLC can’t be convinced to travel thousands of miles for a gig, Neil puts on his “psychedelic troubadour” hat and does solo gigs. He is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter who has performed at gigs & festivals extensively all around the world. “The best thing about being the Grand Authenticated Bush Turkey” says Neil “is that only other turkeys take you seriously”. Elen Jones Elen Jones arrived in Nimbin in 2001 and instantly fell in love with the community and surrounding lands. Wondering around barefoot in the hills her life was miraculously transformed with the help of several plants and herbs that are commonly found there. The natural next step was to start working at Happy High Herbs in Nimbin, connecting plants and people ever since. Support We're immensely grateful for your support of our botanical initiative.
