Melanie Oommen, First Congregation Church. *Jessica Bogli, private health education consultant. Our panelists explore and debate contrasting pedagogical approaches to sex education in middle and high schools; the assessment methods and empirical research evaluating the efficacy of these approaches; and finally the moral and ethical perspectives informing such education and mentoring. Our panelists also share their personal experiences working with students and young people both inside and outside the classroom as counselors, teachers, and presenters. Community Conversations is an academic program that is one of the Living Learning Initiatives of University Housing in partnership with the Clark Honors College, the Oregon Humanities Center, and Undergraduate Studies. The goal of Community Conversations is to stimulate intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, contrarian debate, and articulate discourse among the 3,300+ residential students at the University of Oregon.
