But Silent Hill F will be the first full length, New story in the IP in 13 years. And the first Silent Hill game to be manned by an in-house Japanese team in 22 years! And what a team they’ve brought together. The latest writer to take the pen to the infamously dark, deeply metaphorical psychological horror of Silent Hill is none other than the infamous Ryukishi07 of ‘When They Cry’ fame. More importantly for those of you here on Youtube for the OST is the return of Akira Yamaoka, the lead composer of all previous mainline games as well as probably one of the greatest composers of our time. I have all of the original quadrilogy on Vinyl, and the SH2 Remake soundtrack might be my favourite album of all time full-stop. This time around Akira Yamaoka is not alone, and for an 80 track album, thank goodness for the poor guy. This time he is joined by Kensuke Inage who has worked on the recent Dynasty Warrior games, and Sengoku Musou series. Kensuke is familiar with the role of a secondary composer and has gone on record sharing his opinion of “Staying true to the spirit of the original sound composer. Which as an Akira purist I love to hear, knowing that he wants to collaborate to create the best complete piece rather than trying to stand out by inserting his own ideas into the IP. Also joining the musical A team are Dai and Xaki, two musicians who are very familiar with Ryukishi07 and worked with him on much of the When They Cry series. So they are used to involved horror OST. Konami may have had its ups and downs, and many fans of the series may have had their doubts when its supposed ‘revival’ was announced. They might have even felt vindicated after Ascension and Short Message. But now in the wake of the SH2 Remake And Silent Hill F it is undeniable that Silent Hill has never been more alive and its music has never been better.
