NASHUA, NH — New Hampshire state police, Nashua Fire Rescue and AMR responded to the F.E. Everett Turnpike near exit 4, Thursday for a truck traveling northbound that lost control and struck a large sign support. Upon their arrival at about 6:30 a.m., they found a white 2023 Western Star 49X flatbed truck, carrying a dumpster that had slid into the median and caused significant damage to the upright support of an overhead sign over the Southbound side. The driver was treated by AMR medics and transported to St. Joseph Hospital with what state police described as minor injuries. The truck according to state police had been traveling too fast for the existing road conditions, lost control and crashed into an overhead sign structure. The driver of the flatbed truck involved the crash was identified by state police as Jonathan Soto, 36, of Worcester, Massachusetts. Soto suffered minor injuries and was issued a summons for negligent operation of a motor vehicle. The northbound side of the turnpike reopened after emergency crews cleared the scene, but the southbound side remains closed and is expected to remain closed until 11:30 a.m. New Hampshire Department of Transportation, Continental Paving and Bauchman’s Towing, Inc. worked to remove the damaged sign and flatbed truck from the roadway. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has additional information is asked to contact Trooper Knell at (603) 223-4381. ©Jeffrey Hastings www.frameofmindphoto.com/news
