Nizir is a tobacco vendor at Leadenhall Market in the heart of the City of London. He tells about light cigars, medium flavoured cigars, strong cigars... But does he actually smoke? 1000 LONDONERS This film is part of 1000 Londoners, a ten-year digital project which aims to create a digital portrait of a city through 1000 of the people who identify themselves with it. The profile contains a 3 minute film that gives an insight into the life of the Londoner, as well as their personal photos of London and some answers to crucial questions about their views on London life. Most of our customers are smokers. Filmmaker Daniel: Do you smoke? Nizir: No Daniel: Can you tell me about them? Nizir: Yeah, this one is 'Romeo and Juliet'. These are 'Punch'. This [is] 'Oliva'. This [is] 'Robusto', 'Guantanamera'. Some are light ones, some are strong ones. Okay 'Romeo and Juliet' Daniel: And what type of cigar is that? Nizir: This is a medium flavour. Daniel: And so people who smoke a lot smoke those? Nizir: Yeah, a lot… Daniel: Why is that? Nizir: They say this one is a, 'Cohiba' has a good flavour. Flavour is good, tastes good. Daniel: And is that what people have told you? Nizir: Yes Daniel: But you haven't tried it yourself? Nizir: No, I'm not a smoker. Daniel: Where were you before here? Nizir: Before? Before - in my country, I was in my country, before. Daniel: Which country is that? Nizir: India, born in India. Daniel: So did you have a store like this in India?
