With a name that means “Happiness” in the Sri Lankan native tongue, Sinhala, Sathuta Builders (Pvt) Ltd. has been providing happiness and satisfaction to our employers and employees for over four decades as a leading general contractor in Sri Lanka. Sathuta Builders was the brainchild of Mr. Sunil Rathnayake, who, having been born in a very rural village in the Kurunegala district, started his journey in the construction industry at around 1978 in the Accelerated Mahaweli Programme. Some of the early construction work completed by the company included various types of water projects, buildings and roads in the North Central, North Western and Central Provinces, sometimes even in the active war zones during the Sri Lankan Civil War. Through many ups and downs, the company could finally establish as a leading construction firm with projects all over the country by the end of 2001. Since then, Sathuta Builders has taken an active role in the development of the country by taking part in numerous development projects. We were also one of the first to successfully complete some of the major low and middle-income housing projects in the suburbs of Colombo. Some of the ongoing construction projects of the company are: 1. Design & Construction of Housing Project for Professionals at Weera Mawatha, Pannipitiya (500 units) 2. Design & Construction of Middle-Income Housing Project for Professionals at Kulasewana Watta, Kottawa (300 units) 3.Design and Construction of Proposed Faculty of Medicine for Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, Kuliyapitiya. Currently, we are one of the handful of construction companies in the country with the prestigious CS2 grading by CIDA. With our vision to be the most prominent, most reliable and most environmentally responsible construction firm in Sri Lanka, we have always given a high priority on the quality of our work and its impact on others. Hence, we were one of the first companies to be accredited with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and BS OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment series certifications. We are the recipient of numerous construction and business awards, some of these include, Best Main Contractor of the Year by UDA, National Award for Construction Excellence and National Award for Construction Merit by CIDA. Sathuta Builders is led by a board of directors chaired by founder Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Sunil Rathnayake. In addition, we have an experienced team of over 500 consisting of Engineers, Project Managers, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Finance experts, Safety Managers and so on managing a workforce of over 2000. Long term planning and monitoring is done at the head office while short term planning is mainly done at the site level within the budgetary and time constraints provided by the head office. At present, Sathuta Builders (Pvt) Ltd is part of the Sathuta Group of companies contributing to the development of different areas of the Sri Lankan economy. As one of the longest running construction firms in the country, we are continually improving ourselves and are willing to rise up to any challenge that may be presented to us.
