Hello everyone welcome to Law Diary . In this video, we will discuss the concept of free legal aid and explained the pro bono lawyer. Legal services authority act, 1987 in hindi. Get free lawyers from the government and also discussed the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and its role in providing legal aid to the poor and marginalized sections of society. This video is helpful for law students, especially those preparing for the judiciary exam. The free legal Aid right is given in India constitution. Preamble to constitution provide a right to equality and justice. Article 21 of the constitution provides the right to legal aid. Article 39 A of the constitution of India provides the right to legal aid and direct the Government to Provide free legal Aid. In Hussain Ara khatoon Vs. State of Bihar and Khatri vs state of Bihar court upheld the right to free legal Aid. The Legal service Authority Act was passed in 1987 to create legal service authorities to provide free legal Aid at National, State and Local level. There are two categories where the person eligible for legal aid are put. First is category for Women children and SC & ST and second one is for poor persons. No citizen should be deprived of access to justice due to financial constraints or any other disqualification. Supreme Court Justice Krishna Iyer had propounded a principle that getting free legal aid is the fundamental right of every poor person. Advocate Kalika Prasad Kala 'Manas' said that the poor get a free lawyer not only to fight criminal cases but also to fight civil cases.
