Our journey through the Redwoods continued with some hiking that included exploring a waterfall, having a picnic in the woods, and looking for dinosaurs and elk. We didn’t have any luck with the first, but the latter were in great supply right off the highway. We also spent some time in Crescent City looking at the lighthouse and building things with driftwood on the shore, including a see-saw. Other sites seen include the Trees of Mystery Paul Bunyan that the kids kept tickling him until he was no longer ticklish, and a set of natural bridges. We ended the day at Sunset Bay state park and got to watch the sunset and tide go out at the same time. The girls commented that this campground is the best campground that they have ever ever stayed in (which it was very nice), but in their defense, most, if not all of our family campouts involve camping in dispersed or off the grid sites with no bathroom or other people, so this was like going to another hotel for them😉
