A horse breeder and dealer — responsible for dozens of animals — was successfully prosecuted after authorities discovered 41 neglected horses, emaciated mares, critically ill foals, and even a dead horse in a field. Field officers describe the moment they first arrived at the property and immediately realised the severity of the suffering. With no proper feeding, no worming programme, poor conditions, and expanding numbers of brood mares and youngsters, the situation had spiralled far beyond what the owner could (or would) manage. What followed was a major multi-agency rescue involving emergency veterinary care, transportation of all animals from the premises, and long-term rehabilitation. Many of these horses — now safe, recovering, and finally receiving the care they deserve — continue their journey with us thanks only to the generosity of our supporters.
