DDC is here! And I must say, it is a very strong contender for my favourite mainline game so far. From presentation, to music and gameplay as well, it's all just really great. I really like that this time around gaining resources is tied to using the Point of Collection, something that I tend to use often in every game. Getting constant rewards just by playing well feels great here. While the game mechanics, as well as stages to an extent, are rather simple in DDS, the same can't be said about the boss roster, which features some of the most gimmicky fights in the entire series. They can be a bit hit or miss at times, like Seija with her screen flipping, but I find most of them fun and engaging. The only boss here that I don't really like is Kagerou, due to the fact that 90% of her fight boils down to rng and reactionary dodging, which just isn't my cup of tea. Still more fun that Ichirin, though. I appreciate 4th stage giving you a different boss depending on your shot type. It's hard to decide between Benben and Yatsuhashi who's more difficult, but I feel like Benben is just a bit more unpredictable. Her nons are also quite annoying to deal with. Yatsuhashi has harder spells, though. I actually do like Seija, even though her spells really mess with my head sometimes. Same goes for Shinmyoumaru, who might be the second hardest final boss so far for me, just behind Hijiri. Although Th14 is one of the harder mainline games, it also gives you the tools that can make your time easier - every character has at least one very good shot type that breaks the game to varying degrees. This time I decided to go with Reimu A, as she has the highest damage potential and is way more fun to play than Sakuya A for me. The game also gives you waaaaay more resources to work with compared to the previous entry. 4 deaths in total, quite surprised at this result given the difficulty. I'm very glad I managed to capture Seija's last spell as well as pulling some insane moves on Shinmyoumaru's fight. Quite satisfied with this run.
