Making the Cellarer Prop Monster-in-a-Box

The one where I begin making the monster-in-a-box type prop for the Cellarer prop to hold. I had gone to Home Depot and AC Moore looking for wood storage crates, but the types they had didn't meet my needs because the slats were too wide and would reveal the inner mechanisms, so I decided to build a simple box from scrap wood I had in my shop. The goal was to make it lightweight, and since only the front (and top) would be seen, I used on a good piece of 3/4" plywood for it. The back is 3/8" OSB and the two sides, which won't be seen at all because of the fabric draped down over the arms of the Cellarer prop, were made from 1/4" hard board. The bottom is 1/8" lauan. The top is also going to be a good piece of wood because it will be visible also, but as I prepared to make that, a neighbor called me away to help with a small construction project which ended up using my remaining work time. So we'll revisit the box top tomorrow and also add some decorative accents to the box itself to make it look like a wine crate that the Cellarer is carrying. Like this video?
