I survived the most painful skin condition. This is what I learned…

Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) is a debilitating condition caused by the overuse of Glucocorticoids. This condition is underrecognized by the medical community and though the pharmaceutical companies have strict guidelines for use, topical steroids are still one of the most freely prescribed and unsupervised medications given to people with skin conditions. This contrast between the warnings of terrible side effects vs. the indiscriminate prescription of high potency steroids has fostered a broken relationship between many TSW sufferers and their doctors. TSW has largely been misdiagnosed as severe eczema or a flare of the underlying condition, but TSW warriors have known this to be untrue and have for years tried to prove that their condition is real and distinct from their underlying conditions (if any).
