I am using a metal trash can as an in-the-water wood stove to heat up a 450 gallon stock tank. I am not recommending doing this, just showing that its possible. While its cheap (the trash can costs 25$ comparing to 850$ snorkle stove) and easy to maintain and feed the fire, its not clear to me how to properly attach the metal garbage bin to the wall of a stock tank, i had a few failed attempts when it got out of the water and spilled the fire in to the stock tank, nobody was in it fortunately, and it takes a lot more space than a snorkle stove i bought later on. It takes me now about 6 hours to get the water to a 105F with a snorkle stove and all the improvements and tricks that came with experience, the stove is harder to feed, as it takes only small size wood pieces and has to be fed often, like every 20 minutes. So, it still takes all day, but its worth it, when by night time you have a big hottub to enjoy. Its so spacious comparing to traditional cedar tubs where you can only sit. The only company that makes wood stoves that will fit in to the this stock tank is this: Snorkel Hot Tubs Inc ,Seattle WA 98108 ,US Standard size stoves from cedar tubs are too big, they are not going to be within proper water level, or the stove will melt. Good luck! This is part 2, with all improvements: • Redneck hot tub. Part 2: Improvements.
