The dji mini 2 verse dji mini 1 which drone should you buy?? The Ocu sync is dji's own brand of transmission from the drone to the receiver but is it any better that what dji calls advance wifi. Today we will be testing out Ocusyc 2.0 on the mini 2 against advanced wifi on the mini 1. What is Ocusync 2.0 (Read below to find out ) The brand new DJI MINI 2 uses something called OcuSync 2.0. DJI is pretty much combined all of the previous versions of OcuSync into one system and added some improvements as well. The new system will give up to 1080p in 5 miles, it has dual band 2.4 and 5 gigahertz with automatic band switching in flight. So it will automatically jump between the two modes to give you the best possible signal. It has a new lower latency than we have seen on any the RTF craft before with to 130 milliseconds and it has the ability to separate the control and video link frequency onto different bands. Another advantage to OcuSync overall is that its firmware can be updated. Looking at THE DJI MINI 2 OcuSync in a lot more detail it is basically an identical system to DJI Lightbridge in the sense that it is an OFDM video carrier which is surrounded by FHSS control signals. If you look at the top picture you have an OFDM carrier in the center. This is that very large mass of lots of little carriers you can see in the middle. The way the OFDM works on this drone is when you first turn it on it will look for a clear channel and the video will settle on that channel and stay there throughout the flight. The only time that video carrier will shift is: if it picks up interference or if you manually tell it to change channel. However as long as it’s working in normal environment it will pick a single channel on startup and that’s where it will stay for the entire flight until you tune the aircraft off. What is advance wifi ? (Read below to find out ) DJI Mavic mini 1 it uses advanced Wi-Fi Dual frequency bands of 2.4 and 5.8 GHz are available with Wi-Fi, automatically switching for maximum control. Two forms of W-Fi are currently used by DJI; standard Wi-Fi with the Spark and enhanced with the DJI Mavic Air and DJI mini 1 . The standard Wi-Fi gives the Spark a European transmission range of up to 500m and the enhanced Wi-Fi gives the Mavic Air AND MINI 1 a transmission range of 2000m. These transmission ranges allow users to maintain VLOS (Visual Line of Site) with their drone, one of the UK regulations. Both Wi-Fi systems provide a video transmission in 720p to the connected mobile device. This allows a clear view from the drone’s camera for control and shot setup etc. Wi-Fi transmission is ideal for DJI’s consumer drones, helping keep the cost down when compared to OcuSync and Lightbridge systems. The transmission range isn’t a far as the other two, however, considering the small size of the Mavic Air and Spark, the range is appropriate to maintain VLOS and keep the drone at a safe distance.
