In his thought-provoking TEDx talk, Kedar Patankar challenges us to rethink how we experience life and make the most of every opportunity. With a background in semiconductor engineering and screenwriting, Kedar’s journey is a fusion of technology, storytelling, and purpose. He questions conventional notions of fulfillment and success. He presents a straightforward but effective framework: think about what you want your future to look like, then make equal-sized boxes for everything you want in it. Some of the boxes he recommends are relationships, giving back to society, etc. Each box holds equal importance and necessity. In his talk, he explores the “Fast-Forward Technique” - a mindset that helps embrace life's unpredictability by focusing on maximizing experiences rather than seeking validation. Kedar asks us to value all facets of life equally, to actively check off universal boxes and personal boxes - relationships, thankfulness and social impact - every day rather than simply making them. He asks us to expand the boxes and build up on them. Through his talk, he also discusses the impact of “Trash Talk”, his eight-year heritage conservation initiative, while offering insights from his varied experiences as an engineer, author, and history geek. He demonstrates through this initiative that giving back is equally as important as achieving personal success. His message is crystal: Are you prepared to be there for your future self? Kedar Patankar is a dynamic leader whose journey spans technology, storytelling, and social impact. With dual M.S. degrees in Management of Technology and Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the US, he has over two decades of experience in semiconductor and chip design, serving as a CTO and consultant in VLSI and Embedded Systems. An avid writer, he co-wrote Kaun Pravin Tambe and Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, winning a Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay, and authored Border Post 99: No Man’s Land. He leads The Trash Talk Group, driving conservation of forts and heritage sites while collaborating with schools and government organizations. Kedar also empowers rural education in Maharashtra. His journey exemplifies the power of balancing career, creativity, and social responsibility, reflecting his belief in maximizing one’s potential for a complete life.
