Spring has sprung and no American vinyl in sight on this play list with the American artists wearing distinctly European clothes. I'm spreading the net fairly wide with some of these selections. Loads of lovely UK rarities, including UK cover versions, Demo's, theme tunes, mod icons, big production enders. A smattering of blue eyed soulful magic. An exquisite portion of European picture sleeves and E.P.'s. Some girly beat ballads, a few early British pop legends, Frankie Vaughan re-working a Jimmy Radcliffe classic, Craig Douglas rolling the dice on a late 60's effort and Billy Fury with a popcorn curiosity. We've got Carl Douglas post "Serving a Sentence" pre "Kung Fu" on a busman's holiday in Spain with a jaunty take on The Showstoppers minor hit. A bit of obscure Englebert dressed as Gerry Dorsey as we used to know back him in Leicester. Sammy Davis Jr killing a Bobby Darin groover. The cover of The Intentions on Sue is an indication of how much weed Guy Stevens and his team were consuming down at Cambridge Road as it has no reference to the track on the sleeve!!! We've got Brotherhood Of Man doing Leslie Uggams !!! and even the odious Jimmy Savile gets in on the act with his Keele Uni rag week flexi-disc. Thankfully I have edited out his inane cackling and you just get a fabulous cover of the Earl Van Dyke rarity from The Hipster Image - mod perfection.
