Passo di Giau is regarded as one of the best (and most difficult) climbs in the Dolomites. The road from Caprile takes you along a river up to Selva di Cadore. From here you have a nice descent to rest your legs before having to climb approx 10 km / 6 miles with an average gradient of almost 10%. You follow the same route as the famous Maratona dles Dolomites. As you get to the first hairpin you have 28 more to go. The first teen hairpins are the most difficult. From the teenth hairpin, you are rewarded with magnificent views of the dolomites. The alpine beauty that surrounds you on the last 3 km /1.8 miles is pure eye candy and makes cyclists come back to this pass again and again. It is a ride with a lot of cycling history and it has been used numerous times by the Giro d’Italia.
