Philippines / Buscalan Kalinga trip with Victor Baculi

Somewhere within the lash mountains of Kalinga province in the Philippines lies the tranquil village of Buscalan. Many travelers flock to the picturesque village to meet 100 years old Fang-od - the last and oldest traditional Kalinga tattoo artist. But only a few are lucky to go there with the legendary guide Victor Baculi. Based in the village of Luplupa of Tinglayan municipality, Victor has been taking tourists all around since the 1970s. He is one of a kind, caring not only for visitors but also for his community. In this video we shall go with Victor - originally named "Chuper" - to Buscalan, meet his "girlfriend" Fang-od, explore Buscalan's unique wooden houses, try to pass through the village of Butbut, enjoy the amazing rice fields, and sleep in a local house.
