This is the first compilation of the YouTube guitar songs that I have posted on my channel over the last decade. The oldest song in here dates back to 2016. A lot of even older songs slipped through the cracks and didn't make it to any playlist or compilation, but Vol.1 is still very representative of the type of music I started posting almost 10 years ago on my channel. For many years, I didn't want to post my ''song sketches'' on YouTube, because I didn't want to copy what Andy Othling was doing, one of my biggest inspirations at that time. A few years later, I found it silly that I would not post any music just not to copy his concept... so I just did (and shockingly, nobody said anything - who knew that anyone could be entitled to post their own music online!!). It's proof that we can find any excuse not to write music or post it. These excuses are NEVER valid, they are just insecurities. I'm glad I overcame them. This playlist has a lot more of an ambient guitar feel - I was exploring soundscapes, reverb and delay a lot. I still do today, but I think that my music is a lot less ambient than it was back then. I now try to incorporate more styles, play chord melodies, make more intricate progressions and harmonies or rock a bit from time to time. I did that stuff a lot less back then, so this compilation seems more homogeneous. All of these songs were played live in one take with a looper. That's why you can hear me step on fooswitches and that's why the songs are simpler and developping more slowly. That is exactly part of the experience!
