Although I'm board certified in foot surgery, I always attempt the most conservative treatment in the office before even considering surgery. Many things can be treated conservatively such as heel pain, ingrown nails, bunions, hammertoes, and all different types of foot pain. Most of the foot problems especially when it comes to foot pain are treated with orthotics and usually a series of some type of cortisone injection or other injection to get rid of the pain. This is not always a temporary fix; in many cases, it's a permanent fix.
