Merida to Holbox So, we sadly left Merida too early in our opinion. In hindsight we should have spent more time than 3 nights in this beautiful city. Merida deserves at least 5 nights to fully enjoy everything this city has to offer. That said, we were having difficulties arranging sensible travel from Merida to Holbox Island. You need to travel to Chiquilá to catch a 15 min ferry over to Holbox. The trip from Merida to Chiquilá is a good 4-hour ride. Our new friends Lorena & Beto offered to drive us there to make our journey easier. We owe them a debt of gratitude and a huge favor in return whenever and wherever they would like to collect it in this big beautiful world! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
